REVIEW: Nexus Revo Stealth Prostate Massager

Note: This review is based off a sample which was sent for testing. The official retail product may differ slightly. As far as i’m aware, the only thing that will be different between this version, and the one you will be able to buy, is the packaging, and a sample of lube will also be included.

Since discovering the pleasures of Prostate stimulation, I am always looking out for something new and different. The L’Amourose Prostate Massager that I bought a little while ago completely blew my mind, with both it’s power and how incredibly quiet it was. I’ve reviewed a Nexus massager before (The Max 5 – you can see my review of that here) and I have to admit, I was not impressed. When I was asked by Lovehoney if I would test this, I was a little dubious, but after seeing some of the reviews for the Nexus Revo 2, I was little more intrigued and excited.

So did the Nexus Revo live up to it’s expectations? Well read on to find out how this ‘Revolutionary’ new toy did…

First Impressions:

I won’t spend too much time talking about the packaging, as this is supposedly due to change – however, if the final product is anything like what i’ve received – it’s really not that bad. There is a simple black matte outer slip which just features the product name. Underneath that is a black keepsake box, which again just features the product name. As you lift up the lid, you’ll see the Revo and the remote control nestled in a cardboard tray. Underneath that is a storage bag, USB cable and a magnetic charge point. There is also an instruction manual. Presentation wise, it’s good. I always feel that when people take the time to package their products nicely, it really helps enhance the overall experience (But then again, i’m a sucker for a nice box… ooer!)

So onto the Revo. This gorgeous little toy is made from a mixture of silky smooth skin-safe silicone, with an ABS plastic base. It is shaped like a standard prostate toy, with the insertable prostate stimulator, and a curved base at the bottom that acts as a perineum stimulator. This section is covered in lots of pleasurable little bumps.

The Revo is named because the shaft of the toy actually rotates – so as it’s inside you, the rotating tip is set to provide some amazing stimulation to the prostate – something that you just don’t get from a regular massager, vibrating or otherwise. There are 2 rotational speeds – 35 RPM and I’m going to guess the second speed is double*. The base of the toy also vibrates, so as it rests against the perineum, it will provide some deep rumbly sensations outside, whilst the rotations work on the inside. There are 6 vibration speeds, ranging from standard continuous vibrations to various pulses and waves.

The toy is not completely silent, but it is one of the more quieter toys that I have – it’s comparable to the sound of an electric toothbrush – I placed it on the bed, turned it on high, went down to the bottom of the stairs – couldn’t hear it. I went into our en-suite bathroom and closed the door – still couldn’t hear it. So far, so good.

How to use:

The Revo is extremely simple to use. You’ll need to first charge the toy – simply inset the micro-USB cable into the little magnetic charging cap – attach to the toy and wait 3.5 hours. Now I’m not currently certain how long the charge lasts, but if it’s anything like the Revo, you are supposed to get around 10 hours of play with every charge. The longest I was able to use it in one session was over an hour with no dulling of sensations – and it’s been used a couple of times since then – so it’s looking good charge wise.

When you are ready to go. Slather yourself and the Revo with a good water-based anal lube and gently insert the soft silicone shaft. If you are still new to anal/prostate play, it recommends lying on your side with your knees to your chest to make it easier – not so much of an issue for me. After carefully inserting, and making sure the soft nubs were resting on my perineum, I just lay there for a few moments to get used to the sensation. Then I picked up the little remote control, and got down to some serious fun.

To turn on the Revo, you need to hold the Power button down for a few seconds, until you see a little red light flash at the top of the remote. A second, quick press will turn it on. This will turn the Revo on to its lowest Rotation and Vibrating setting. To turn off the Revo – simply hold the power button down for a few seconds, and it will turn off.

So after I turned the Revo on for the first time, I couldn’t help but immediately cry out “Oh my god!” I knew the toy was rotating, but I honestly didn’t think it would actually work once it was inserted – but holy cow, I was wrong! Immediately, the tip was working out my prostate like it had never been touched before. This was a completely different sensation to something like a standard vibrating massager. It really did feel like a finger was gently circling my prostate. Immediately, I had Goosebumps. It was like discovering anal for the first time.

So now I had to work my way through the different settings. So I moved it up to the second speed of rotations (oh my… I could already feel my toes beginning to curl) and moved to the second speed of vibrations. It got very intense, very fast! So much so, I was literally shaking all over the bed – but no matter what I did, there was no relenting of vibrations – whatever position I was in, it continued to probe and poke my prostate. I had to go to the third speed, in the name of science; I moved it to the highest vibration setting. By now, I was completely covered in sweat but alas; I did not achieve a prostate orgasm. On this setting, I personally did find it just too intense.

However, after giving myself time to calm down, I started again, and this time kept it on the first rotation speed, and the second vibration speed. This seemed to be the sweet spot for me – I lay there in absolute bliss as the Revo did it’s thing, and used my hands to explore my body – my nipples were extremely sensitive and after 45 minutes or so, I was incredibly hard – and as I brushed passed my penis, it was too much and I had an incredibly explosive orgasm.

Now unfortunately, all my tests have been solo – however I can totally see this being a great couples toy – give the remote to your partner, and perhaps have them tie you up/blindfold you – and let them control the Revo – this is next on my to do list – and I can’t wait!

But all this good stuff has to come with a downside, right? Well yes – but it’s not anything major – but I suppose it could potentially be a deal breaker for some people – you cannot operate the Revo without vibration. Personally, it’s not a huge deal for me, although the rotation setting seemed to be doing so well that it would have been nice to have experienced the Revo without the vibration – as the vibrations can get a bit ‘too much’ in a slightly uncomfortable way. UPDATE: It has since been drawn to my attention that the REVO can indeed be operated with just vibrations or just rotations. To do so, you simple hold down the ‘vibration’ button on the remote for a few seconds, and this will turn the vibrations off, but will keep the ‘rotation’ going – and vice versa. This was a feature that I was not made aware of in the instruction booklet, and apparently it was complete dumb of me to not play around with the buttons on the remote – I just followed the instructions in the booklet I received with this SAMPLE product. But as I am a man of integrity, I hold my hands up and say yeah, I made a cock up. Using the REVO with just rotations was a god-send, as the rotations and vibrations can get a bit too intense, so it’s nice to be able to actually dial it back and just go with the rotations.

Clean-up and Maintenance:

The Revo is only splash-proof, so great care must be taken when cleaning it. I would recommend either using some toy wipes, or use a soft cloth with some warm water and toy cleaner. Once it is clean, you can either leave it to dry or use a lint-free cloth to just dry it before either popping it in the supplied storage bag (or back into it’s box) to keep it nice and clean, ready for your next use.

Summary:

Well what can I say, really? Compared to some of the other prostate toys I have tried (Especially the Rosa) – this really is a great little toy, that offers something a little bit different to just your standard vibrating toy. It’s simple and easy to use, but based on the intensity of some of the settings, I might put this down as an intermediates toy, rather than something for beginners – I would consider myself an intermediate and even I found some of it a little bit ‘too much’. But it looks great, is certainly powerful and the remote control function means that you really can have lots of fun with this in the bedroom. Why not combine this with a Remote Control Love Egg – you could give each other pleasure without even having to be in the same room? Food for thought…

Score:

9 out of 10

UPDATE: Following the new information, I have decided not to increase or change the score I gave this product. Whilst it’s great you can actually operate the REVO without Vibrations or Rotations, the fact remains it’s still not waterproof. If it was, then it would indeed get a solid 10 out of 10.

(*the instruction booklet appears to have a misprint as it says both speeds are 35 RPM – so i’m not sure what the actual RPM of the fastest speed is).

    1. Nvm, the remote started working after I reseated the battery. It had synced but wouldn’t turn on/send controls. Works now, thanks!!

  1. “reviewer didn’t bother to figure out that holding the vibration button for 2 seconds turns vibration off. This is the first thing I checked once I got the toy unboxed.”

    1. Thank you for pointing this out – forgive me, but this is NOT a feature that is listed in the instruction manual of the SAMPLE that I was sent for testing. Upon further investigation, you are indeed correct – the review will be updated accordingly to reflect this new information.

    1. I haven’t tried the ‘Intense’, however from looking at it, the only difference is that the shaft is angled slightly, and it’s not remote controlled. The function still appears to be exactly the same.
